Thank you for this list. It is deeply satisfying to know I'm not alone in my revulsion for the fact that Kayden is gaining in popularity. (Not revulsion at the individual babies, mind you, who I'm sure are cute and blessed, etc.)

And I couldn't be more anti-Jayden if I wore the tee-shirt.

But I'm going to take issue with your disgust at Sloane, Logan, etc. being used as girls' names.

I don't like them either, I'll grant. But that's a matter of taste. They don't have any of the characteristics that names like Haven and Kingsley (and don't even start me on Ayden) evoke. I.e., they're not clearly the choice of semi-literate, desperate-to-be-trendy parents who have convinced themselves that uniqueness alone demonstrates their taste and class, when the exact opposite is true. They don't make me have to say through clenched teeth "what a cute . . . BABY" when the proud grandparents show me a picture and then express their undying love for little Brycelee.

On the contrary, particularly in the South, there is something of a tradition of giving females family last names as a first name.

We may not care for it. But it's not even the same species of misdemeanor as the there-ought-to-be-a-law-against-this naming that produces the Londyn MacKenzees of the world.

I'll save my ammo for those kinds of names and spare the girls named Presley. Presley's a name. Just not one I really care for.
